Week 5 Burn Book: Lions Stampede, Concussions, and Zero-Point Ghosts
Burn-Book Digest · Week 5 · 2026 · Oct 21, 2026The Game of the Week lived up to the hype for one half of the building and turned into a horror movie for the other. Reigning champ Marcus put on a coronation, riding Jahmyr Gibbs (39.7) and Jaylen Warren (38.8) to a 220.0 eruption that buried two-time champ Crock, 220.0–147.7. Crock's night got worse before it got better — KC Concepcion took a concussion in the flex spot and left early with just 1.5 points against a 10.69 projection. Good news: he cleared protocol and was back on the roster by Week 6. Bad news: Harold Fannin Jr. no-showed for 1.4 points and did nothing to stop the bleeding. When your two-time champion banner can't save you from a 72-point beatdown, you tip the cap and move on.
Dez turned the 10am slot into target practice, torching Crawf 214.5–122.1 behind Jared Goff's 34.9-point outing. Crawf, meanwhile, watched CeeDee Lamb completely ghost the box score — 2.9 points on a 19.8 projection is the kind of dud that makes you check if he actually suited up. Dez has two last-place finishes on his ledger and zero rings league-wide, but this week he looked like a man trying to change that narrative one blowout at a time.
Thursday night was a Rams showcase masquerading as a fantasy matchup, with Frost getting a ridiculous Puka Nacua (39.7) and Matthew Stafford (36.3) stat-stack to outlast Devion, 161.3–135.7. Devion's Jeremiyah Love flatlined at 2.2 points against a 14.8 projection, proof that sometimes the box score just doesn't care about your projections.
The London Game lived up to its billing as the nail-biter of the week — Meek nipped Manny 140.9–135.7, and both sides have injury excuses to lean on. Deebo Samuel pulled up with a hamstring issue in Meek's flex, managing only 2.5 points on an 11.24 projection before landing on IR — brutal luck, zero blame on the skipper. Manny's Quinshon Judkins went down with an ankle injury of his own, scraping together 8.0 points against a 14.98 projection and also heading to IR. As if that wasn't enough, Meek's RJ Harvey just flat-out no-showed for 0.7 points — no excuse there, just a straight dud. Somehow Meek still found a way to survive by 5.2 points.
Monday Night closed the week with Chengy edging Beav 133.5–122.8 in a game that should've been a laugher if either quarterback situation had shown up. Sam Darnold delivered the week's biggest faceplant — an actual zero on a 19.6 projection for Chengy — while Beav got nothing out of Carnell Tate (1.6 points on a 14.0 projection). Chengy won anyway, which either means his depth carried him or Beav's bench was just as empty. Either way, book it: in the Coulda Been Athletes burn book, "my starter scored zero" is never a good look, injury or not.
