Trap House Chronicles: One Ring, Nine Years, and a Crawf-Shaped Curse

Frost's Trap House has been the league's most reliable rollercoaster since 2017 — never dwelling in the basement, but never quite settling into a permanent perch at the top either. Nine seasons, one shining banner, and a whole lot of "so close" in between. The all-time ledger reads 80-69, a .537 winning percentage that says "solid," even if it doesn't scream "dynasty."

The peak, obviously, is 2018 — a 10-3 juggernaut season that ended with the crown. That Trap House squad didn't just make the playoffs, it steamrolled into finish No. 1 and hung a banner that's still the crown jewel of the franchise. But this is fantasy football, and karma always cashes its check. 2023 was the valley floor — a 6-8 collapse that bottomed out at a 9th-place finish, the worst finish of the Frost era. And nothing stings quite like the 87-point beatdown at the hands of Crawf in Week 9, 2024 — which, fittingly, ties into the single ugliest thread in Frost's story.

Because if Trap House has a villain, it's Crawf. A brutal 2-9 record against him is Frost's clear nemesis matchup — the head-to-head numbers simply don't lie, and neither does the scoreboard scar tissue. Contrast that with Majae, the favorite victim at a cozy 5-1, and you can see exactly who Frost circles on the schedule with a smile versus who gets circled with dread. The luck gods, for what it's worth, owe Frost a refund: an expected-wins mark of 86.8 against an actual 80 wins says this roster has been legitimately snakebit — good enough to have banked nearly seven more wins than the standings show.

Through it all, the engine has been elite championship-caliber QB play — Mahomes and Allen combining for well over 1,300 points as centerpiece arms — flanked by Kupp, Gibbs, Adams, and Hopkins doing steady, if not spectacular, damage round after round. It's the profile of a team that's never punted on a season, never bottomed out into last place, and always found a way back to relevance.

Where does that leave Frost in the pantheon? Solidly middle-of-the-pack in luck, top-shelf in banners, and forever chasing revenge against Crawf. One ring, one heartbreak runner-up, zero last-place finishes — Trap House isn't the flashiest dynasty in Coulda Been Athletes lore, but it's the frustratingly consistent contender that everyone else still has to circle on the schedule.
