Manny
Manny: One Ring, Two Runner-Ups, and a Whole Lot of Heartbreak Math
Every league has an origin story, and Manny's is the stuff of legend: Para Que Vayan Y Digan rolled to a 10-3 record in 2017, claimed the 1-seed, and closed it out with the league's first-ever championship. It was clean, it was dominant, and it set a bar that Manny has spent eight seasons chasing right back to.
The chase has been a rollercoaster with the seatbelt optional. 2018 brought a 5-8 face-plant to seventh place, and 2020 wasn't much kinder — a 4-9 nightmare that included a rock-bottom 66.2-point week, the lowest of Manny's career. But sandwiched around those valleys were real signature runs: a runner-up finish in 2019, an 11-3 juggernaut in 2024 that still only managed third place (fantasy football, folks), and yet another runner-up heartbreak in 2025. Two titles slipped away in title games. That's not bad luck, that's a pattern with a grudge.
Speaking of grudges — the numbers back it up. Manny's all-play record and expected-win total (71.8) say this roster should have 65-67 read more like 71-and-something. The luck verdict is officially "unlucky," which means somewhere out there, several fantasy gods owe Manny an apology and a playoff bye.
The rivalry ledger tells its own stories. France has been the favorite victim, a lopsided 6-1 whipping post who probably dreads seeing "Manny" on the schedule. Meek, on the other hand, has been the house of horrors — a brutal 3-8 record that stands as Manny's toughest matchup in the league. And nobody will forget the 101.3-point demolition of DT in 2021, arguably the most savage statement win in Manny's career, balanced against the gut-punch 88.5-point beatdown from Devion back in 2018.
Through it all, Manny built a roster around real firepower — Joe Burrow slinging 662.2 points, CeeDee Lamb turning into a walking touchdown highlight reel, Saquon Barkley grinding out RB1 numbers, and even a late-career Tom Brady cameo adding 568.6 points to the legend. That's a Hall of Fame supporting cast for a manager who's touched the mountaintop once and the ledge of it twice more.
Right now, Manny sits in that fascinating tier of league lore: a certified champion, a repeat runner-up, and — according to the math — one of the unluckiest contenders in Coulda Been Athletes history. The ring is real, the near-misses sting, and the story's still being written. Vegas would probably still take the field against Manny in a title game. Vegas would probably still be wrong.
By The Numbers
Deserved It, Or Got Away With It?
All-play record 646-541-1 — how they'd have done against the whole league every week. Above expected means the schedule (or the fantasy gods) smiled; below means robbed.
